Our Manpower China operation has an office in Chengdu, very near the center of the earthquake’s devastation. We were relieved to receive recent confirmation that all of our employees and associates, as well as their families, were accounted for and confirmed safe. However, the office will remain closed until further notice.
Given the number of deaths and the level of destruction associated with the earthquake, it will require a great deal of time and resources for our colleagues, their families and their communities to recover from this tragedy. Manpower is currently assessing the situation and determining how we can help.
Thankfully, many companies and organizations are currently focused on assisting with immediate aid requirements. Our focus will be on the longer-term rebuilding effort – an effort that we are convinced will require a sustained commitment and substantial resources. This is consistent with Manpower’s philosophy for investing in our communities. Our plans for contributing to the rebuilding effort will be announced once we determine how our organization can make a meaningful, sustainable impact on the long-term needs of the affected communities.
In the meantime, Manpower has engaged our entire worldwide network, and has provided our 33,000 employees with information on donations in support of immediate disaster relief.
